Gaining and losing too much weight can be a sign of troubles ahead, put a stop on abnormal weight change before the negative symptoms start affecting you.
In the vast majority of cases, treating an unwanted weight gain or loss boils down to making changes in your diet, altering your level of physical activity, or even changing both diet and fitness regimen. In the battle to combat weight gain, some diet pills merely speed up your metabolism but do nothing to address the long term causes of the weight problem.
Weight Loss
If the weight loss is caused by a temporary interruption in your regular eating habits – caused by gastric flu, for example, or a particularly stressful period at the office – you’ll probably put the weight back on relatively quickly once you start eating normally. But if you suspect that your weight fluctuations are caused by an underlying medical disorder or medication – or if you’re not sure – consult your doctor.
Weight Gain
To treat unwanted weight gain, decrease your caloric intake while boosting your level of physical activity. The best way to do that is to keep your diet low in fat, include plenty of fruits, grains, and vegetables, and avoid “calorie-dense” foods such as cheese. You should also do regular, moderate exercise that you enjoy enough to stick to, rather than have occasional exercise binges.
To take off weight, there’s nothing like regular aerobic exercise, such as running, biking or walking. Keep the diet low in fats as well and you will be sure to see the fat burn off while you are on a weight loss program.
