Heart disease can affect anybody’s health, so its important to include heart healthy foods into your diet to make sure your are getting the best heart health protection you can. There are several foods that have amazing heart health benefits that you should eat on a daily basis.

Probably the best know food for being healthy for your heart is salmon as it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Eating salmon a few times a week can help lower cholesterol as well as prevent blood clots. Try grilling salmon, as this is a heart healthy cooking method and will make for excellent tasting fish.

Another food that is great for your heart is spinach. Popeye not only got strong eating spinach he had a healthy heart as well. High in vitamins and minerals as well as omega 3 fatty acids, spinach is often recommended by dieticians to help prevent cardiovascular disease. In fact all dark green leafy vegetables are good for your heart, just spinach is also an excellent source of iron and can be an excellent side dish with your salmon (making for a super heart healthy meal combo).

If you like all types of berries then you will be happy to know that eating berries is healthy for your heart. Berries have some of the highest antioxidant levels which have the amazing ability to lower LDL cholesterol levels. Try adding berries to any meal as they can compliment almost any food and taste delicious.

Our last heart health superfood is oatmeal. Oatmeal is not expensive and can be found anywhere, it is easy to cook, and can be mixed with many other foods to produce an excellent nutritious meal. If you are also looking to lose weight oatmeal is a low calorie food that is full of protein, carbs and soluble fiber. There have been hundreds of studies done on the cholesterol lowering benefits of oatmeal, with every study yielding the same result – oatmeal is effective in naturally lowering cholesterol.
Try adding fresh berries to your oatmeal to get an super healthy breakfast that tasted delicious.

Eating these foods can definitely help your heart, but if you are serious about heart health, make sure to workout several times a week, focusing on cardiovascular exercises.
You will also need to follow a proper diet plan and avoid certain habits such as smoking to really get the heart health results you want.
