If you are a woman trying to lose weight, you probably have had some testosterone filled guy come up to you telling you about how you can lose weight by lifting heavy weights. Well he may be right – if you were a man. What these testosterone filled muscle bound guys don’t realize is that women need to workout differently than men, as a woman’s body is built differently than a man’s body. This doesn’t mean that a woman’s workout routine is different than a male routine, but it takes into consideration that female fitness is built for – you guessed right – females.

Is there a way to Workout if I am a Woman?
Yes, in fact there are tons of different female workouts that you can do. Everything from pilates, kickboxing, weight training, bosu ball training, cross training, yoga, running, swimming and many more.


Here are a few great female workouts that will help you get in shape:

Weight Training
If you want to increase your metabolism by working out, then you should definitely add weight lifting to your workout program. This doesn’t mean countless hours of heavy weights, it means doing high-rep weights for 30 minutes, 3 times a week. The reason why weight training can help you lose weight is because weight training help you gain muscle and every additional pound of muscle you have equals 50calories a day needed to maintain the added muscle mass. Try using light weights and workout your major muscle groups to get the most out of your workout.
Cross Training

If you want to burn a ton of calories without getting bored, then cross training is your best training option. Cross training burns a ton of calories because your body never gets used to doing the same workout routine over and over again. A few of the best ways to cross train are soccer, hiking, wind surfing and mountain climbing.
Body Weight Training
One of the best benefits of bodyweight training is that it is a free. Body weight training is compromised of many different exercises such as chin-ups, pushups, situps, free squats, lunges, jumping jacks, pressups, running on the spot, etc…  If you are looking for free cardio training ideas, there are a ton of options such as running, walking, dancing, aerobics, etc…..

Remember that women naturally have a higher fat percentage than men, and because of this, do not get frustrated when you don’t see immediate fat loss results as it may take time to lose weight. With a combination of weights, cardio and a good diet plan, there is no reason you cannot get into incredible shape.
