Sometimes there is a diet program that comes out that changes the way we think about losing weight, one such diet is the body for life diet.
This specific diet was made by Bill Phillips (who is the owner of the supplement company EAS) to give a person a diet lifestyle that actually helps lose weight and keep it off for good.
Phillips’s goal was to create a 12 week diet that was focused around eating small meals and increasing the amount of physical exercise one did.

How to eat when on Body for Life

The goal of body for life is to eat 5 to six small and nutritionally dense meals that are based upon a proper amount of lean protein and healthy carbohydrates with a huge emphasis on eating a lot of vegetables. This diet preaches that by eating a mix of protein and carbs at each meal it will keep you full longer and help boost your metabolic rate.
It is important when following this diet to make sure you are also getting a proper amount of dietary fats everyday such as olive oil, canola oil, avocado, flaxseed, walnuts, almonds or natural peanut butter, the usual amount recommended is 1 tablespoon daily.

Each meal should be smaller in size, usually containing 300 calories of quality calories and you should drink as much water as you can throughout the day, the body for life book states to drink a minimum of 10 tall glasses of water a day.

Always aim to eat lean protein, some great sources of lean protein are chicken and turkey breast,, lean cuts of beef and pork, fish, egg whites, low fat cottage cheese, In terms of what carbs to eat, generally go for lower glycemic carbs like brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, sweet potato, lentils, oatmeal and quinoa. If you can’t find these then you can eat regular potatoes, rice and pasta. The main thing is to cook them using healthy cooking methods that avoid frying and the use of added oil. In regards to vegetables, you can pretty much eat any vegetable you want although there are a few exceptions which can be found in his diet book.
One of the greatest benefits of this diet is that when on the body for life diet program you will be asked to diet and workout for 6 days a week with 1 day being a cheat day where you can eat whatever you want. This is great for the psychological effects of dieting and you will notice as the weeks go by; you will be cheating less and less as you will be happy with your weight loss results.

Another difference between this diet and other diet plans is that there is an emphasis on using diet supplements during this diet to get quick results. Everything from meal replacement drinks, to whey protein powders, fat burning pills and multivitamins is encouraged; especially from Phillips company EAS (one of the best supplement companies on the diet market).

The Body for Life Workout

Unlike most diets that focus on changing eating habits, body for life places a huge emphasis on working out 6 days a week, using weights and intense cardio sessions to get your metabolic rate going.
Usually the weight training routines alternate with one day being an upper body workout and the next being a lower body workout, with a cardio workout in between each weight training day.

When doing cardio, body for life states that it is better to do a 20 - 30 minute intense cardio session over a 90 min light cardio session as it raises the heart rate and leaves you in a fat burning mode all day long, there is also a huge emphasis to do cardio first thing in the morning for the best fat burning results.

There is also a huge emphasis put onto weight loss motivation with hundreds of weight loss success stories published online and in his books. This will help you when you are going through hard times with your diet.

This diet has been used by hundreds of thousands of people who have been successful in losing weight. If you are serious about losing weight, getting fit and gaining muscle then you need to try the body for life diet plan is it is one of the best diets for weight loss.
