One of the hottest diets on the internet at the moment is a diet that was showcased on the Oprah Winfrey show that is based upon eating low calorie foods that are natural. Often referred to as the Oprah Winfrey diet plan, this diet has been taking the American diet scene by storm.
The Oprah diet is based around the principle that eating a diet that is low calorie and focuses on fresh natural foods being eaten several times a day will lead to a longer and much healthier life. One of the benefits of eating many small meals during the day is that the body is always receiving nutrients and never really feels hunger as there is a constant stream of food entering the body every day, as well as eating small meals is a sure way to boost your metabolism naturally thus equaling faster weight loss.
What Food are Allowed on the Oprah Diet
The Oprah diet is interesting in the fact that it emphasizes eating natural unprocessed foods such as nuts, fish, yogurt, raw vegetables, dried fruit, apples (especially the peel), all high fiber foods and whole grains.
Snacking is allowed on this diet and even encouraged, just as long as it is from healthy natural low calorie foods.
One of the best ways to get the most nutrients from the foods you are eating on this diet is to make sure you are eating according to color. This means that you should always include colorful fruits and vegetables into every meal, as they are great natural sources of vitamins and minerals as well as they contain a huge amount of antioxidants to help fight off diseases like cancer.
Unlike other diets that are based around the principle of calorie restriction, this diet is based around the fact that you need to listen your body, and let it tell you when it is full. A great way to let your body tell you when its full is to make sure you chew your food fully and eat your meal at a slower pace, thus letting your body release chemicals from your brain that let you know you are full.
Do I need to Exercise during this Diet Plan
Actually yes, it is recommended to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes every day, as this will help the blood flow, aid in digestion and help maintain a proper body weight. Often, exercises like pilates and yoga are recommended as they will help keep you flexible and promote proper posture. If you cannot see yourself doing yoga nor pilates, then aim for a mixture of cardio exercises such as walking, swimming, cycling or light jogging as these will help keep your heart healthy and light resistance exercise as these will help keep your bones and muscles strong (also helps in boosting metabolic rate).
