OK, so we have all heard of the daily recommended food pyramid that the government tells us to follow in order to be healthy and keep a normal weight, but what exactly is the food pyramid diet and how can it help you stay healthy and lose weight?

The pyramid diet is based upon the scientific basis that if one calculates the amount they weight and their height, they can figure out the amount they need to eat to maintain a healthy lifestyle with the extra fat burning off naturally.

When starting a pyramid diet you will need to figure out three things before getting to the actual diet itself, these factors are you height, weight and daily physical activity level. Once you have figured out these factors you can now get to the actual diet.
The pyramid diet is based upon reaching a proper level of balance in the food you eat with grains being the largest food group you will be eating with vegetables and fruits coming in at close second, dairy products third, meats fourth and fats in fifth place.

Generally speaking, when on this diet you should avoid eating processed versions of the foods available on this diet and stick to their natural versions as these are healthier and contain many more nutrients that their processed versions. Also, it is recommended to eat 3 solid meals a day on this diet plan, with breakfast being the largest meal of the day, lunch being medium sized and a light dinner.

A great benefit of eating a diet based upon the food pyramid is that it contains a large amount of dietary fiber, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals that you need to develop and perform everyday activities. Many athletes follow this diet as there is a constant source of energy through the emphasis on carbohydrates that this diet program contains.

If you are interested in losing weight, staying healthy and increasing your overall energy, then you should definitely follow this food pyramid and pyramid diet plan.
