One of the most inspiring men on the planet is Randy Couture, who in his late 40’s is still competing in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
Couture does not look like an average guy in his mid 40’s, he is a lean mean fighting machine who has the body of a fit male in his mid 20’s.
Many people have tried to understand how Randy Couture is so fit at his age, and Couture himself accredits his fitness to his diet program, fitness program and positive mindset – often stating how his passion drives him to excel.

Randy Couture’s fitness routine is a mixture of MMA training, boxing, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and an interesting workout that resembles an actual MMA fight (using a lot of plyometrics, explosive power, bungee cord training, high endurance and calisthenics). Randy even works out lightly when he is on a day off from his exercise routine by going on light hikes and walks with his wife, this a great habit to get into as it is highly productive and will help burn calories. Randy usually trains 6 days a week and when it comes to competition time he trains a few times a day increase the intensity of his workouts.

In terms of dieting, Randy took another angle at dieting that many MMA fighters do not do as the usual MMA fighter either eats a diet rich in carbs and protein or they generally eat a low carb diet. Randy’s diet is a special MMA alkaline diet, with en emphasis on eating foods that do not raise the acid levels in his blood and leaves the blood’s acidity levels stable. Randy’s diet consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, roots, tubers, beans, legumes and fish, Randy also take many supplements such as a greens powder along with many other diet supplements. The foods that Randy avoids are all dairy products, meat and grains.

Randy has stated that one of the factors that makes it hard to train at an older age is the amount of time it takes to recover from a hard workout, this is the main factor behind his choice of following an alkaline diet as it help him better recover from a hard MMA workout.

If you want to perform at your optimal levels, lose weight naturally and get fit, try following an alkaline diet plan based upon Randy Couture’s diet program.
