Everyone knows that losing weight is all about calories and the easiest way to lose weight is to count the calories of the foods you consume during the day.

Often enough we find ourselves eating foods that contain many hidden calories thus making it hard for us to lose the weight we want to lose. So here are some great calorie cutting ideas that will help you succeed with your weight loss program’s goals.

1. Eat More Salad
When eating a meal, try starting with a nice healthy salad. Make sure that the salad is using a low fat dressing to avoid eating excessive calories. Starting your meal off with a salad will fill you up and provide you with a great amount of nutritious vitamins to strengthen your body.

2. Eat Salad With a Fork
Using a fork to eat your salad can definitely help you lose weight, here’s how. Instead of pouring salad dressing all over your starter salad, try placing the dressing at the side. Before taking some salad, make sure to dip your fork into the dressing prior. This will give you the great taste of a salad dressing without the burden of eating a bunch of extra calories.

3. Eat Lean Protein
It may sound like a rhyme but nothing could be truer. Lean protein not only carries fewer calories, but it contains less fat and cholesterol as well. Eating lean protein will help preserve your muscle mass as well as it will fill you up and keeps your body strong and ready for those fat burning workouts.

4. Slower the Better
If you enjoy eating as much as we do, you know that eating a great tasting meal can be an awesome experience.  A great way to eat the foods you love while counting calories is to simple eat slower. Try chewing your food 7 – 12 times in order to help break it down, this will help your body digest those amazing nutrients your food holds. Eating slowly also gives your body more time to trigger the hormones that tell it that it is getting full.

5. Drink Like a Fish
Drink 8 to 12 large glasses of water a day, this will boost your body’s metabolism as well as keep you feeling full throughout the day. Water will also help you digest your food and rehydrate your body after a grueling workout.

6. Watch The Sauce
When eating your meal, it is easy to get in the habit of adding those delicious extra sauces. What you may not know is that those great tasting sauces may be holding a huge amount of extra calories that you don’t need while participating in a serious diet program. What you want to do is make sure that the sauces you are adding to your food are low fat and low calorie, your body will thank you. Some low calorie sauces that you can use are mustard, and low calorie BBQ sauce.

7. Skip the Fries
Fries are a delicious part of American culture. Fried and salted to perfection, this side dish has earned its way into every American’s heart. Unfortunately, usually the way fries get into your heart is through cholesterol. French Fries are full of fat and unnecessary salt that will cut the years off your life. Try substituting salad, a baked potato or rice instead of the order of those calorie dense fries.

8. Eat Home Cooked Foods
It’s simple. When you cook your own food you can control everything that is put into your food. Eating a home cooked meal is not only healthier, it’s cheaper as well. Try using healthy cooking methods such as baking or broiling instead of frying when coking at home. You can also use the absolute freshest of ingredients to give the food you are eating the best taste possible while being light in calories as well.
