If there is one form of exercise that one could argue resembles what it is like in heaven, it would be surfing. Surfing has a huge following around the world, sometimes even referred to as a religion largely because surfing places man with nature in an experience that some claim as spiritual. If you look at the average surfer, they are built like a professional athlete with ripped abs and barely any fat, that’s because surfing is a great workout that can burn tons of calories without you even knowing it (as you will be having fun on the waves).

There are tons of fitness benefits from surfing as surfing is a great cardio workout, is awesome for building a six pack and core strengthening, and will improve your overall balance and stabilizer muscles.

Surfing requires a person to paddle to their surf point and this is great exercise to build your shoulder and back, once at the surf point you will need to catch a wave, this needs explosive power to paddle quickly as to get on top of the wave, once on top you will need to hop up and hold a strong surfing stance, this stance requires rock hard legs and abs. It is easy to workout for a long time as surfing is so much fun, you could literally spend 5 hours burning calories and fat when out at sea.

Fitness experts have estimated that a person burns between 350 – 500 calories an hour when surfing, but this can be much more depending on size of the person, activity level when surfing and size of the waves they catch.
Surfing is also a great exercise for seniors as they can surf into their 70’s, this is great news fir seniors who love to visit the beach for theirs morning exercise routine.

When you finish your surfing routine, always remember to drink water and eat some fruit for nutritional replenishment.

Surfing is an amazing fitness lifestyle and workout that is good for weight loss, relaxation and improving health, try surfing as you will fall in love with this pastime as millions of others have.
